About This
- The marking gauge, in parts of southern Germany, also tear gauge or parallel measure, is a tool to draw or tear marking lines at a specified distance parallel to an already processed edge. The marking gauge consists of stop, slider and marking aid.
- The slider is movable in the stop and is fixed with a screw. If this is released, the slider and stop can be moved against each other. With the help of a scale attached to the slider, the desired distance between the workpiece edge and the marking line can be adjusted.
- When marking or scribing, the stop is gently pressed against the workpiece edge and pulled along it. Parallel to the edge, the marking aid attached to the slider end draws or tears a line.
